EU Science Hub partners with Airturb

We’re proud to share that the Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Petten, The Netherlands will install an Airturb Model One Sky turbine as part of a new renewable energy research project.

November 12, 2025

The JRC site in Petten is one of Europe’s leading research centres, known for its work on sustainable energy, nuclear safety, mobility, and climate.

The project focuses on integrating wind, solar, and hydrogen technologies to explore how these energy sources can complement each other in hybrid renewable systems. The research aims to enhance efficiency, reliability, and scalability in the transition toward cleaner and more resilient energy infrastructure across Europe.

The Model One Sky is Airturb’s pole-mounted configuration of the Model One, a compact and efficient vertical-axis wind turbine with integrated solar capability. It’s designed for seamless installation and consistent performance across a wide range of environments, making it ideal for hybrid energy applications and research projects like this one.

Airturb is excited to support JRC Petten’s research and will share updates as the project progresses.
